Where It Is
The Saltings is an exclusive enclave along the banks of the estuary on the edge of the village of Lelant. Lelant is highly sought after and is around three miles from the gorgeous harbour town of St Ives. The village is popular with locals and visitors who enjoy the stunning coastline with golden sandy beaches and stunning cliff top walks. The estuary is popular for bird watchers due to the many rare migrating birds from all over the world. Lelant has a historic church and a links golf club as well as lovely walks beside the Saltings Estuary. Amenities in the village include The Badger Inn whilst Carbis Bay is well served for local day to day needs with a post office, local grocery shop, pharmacy and junior school as well as a Tesco supermarket.
Lelant is also extremely well served for public transport with a bus service and a branch line railway station close by that gives quick and easy access into St Ives and also to St Erth mainline station, which connects to Penzance and Paddington, via Truro, in the other. Footpaths and roads descend down to the long golden beach of Porth Kidney and along the Hayle Estuary.
From Lelant there is one of England's most picturesque train rides taking in the lovely coastline passing the renowned West Cornwall Golf Club and Carbis Bay into St Ives - St Ives has narrow cobbled streets, white washed granite fisherman's cottages, many wonderful restaurants and shops and galleries and is home to the Tate Art Gallery and Barbara Hepworth's Sculpture Garden.
