Maiden Newton is a thriving village with two local shops including post office, newsagents, hardware store, petrol station, fish and chips shop, pub, cafe and it's own restaurant. The village has the added benefit of a doctors surgery with an attached pharmacy, veterinary surgery and garage. Transport from Maiden Newton, which has it's own train station just a short walk from Bull Lane which offers trains to Weymouth and Bristol, nearby stations include Dorchester, Yetminster and Yeovil as just a few examples. Also there are two bus routes to Yeovil and Dorchester. Maiden Newton is a short driving distance from towns including Dorchester (9 miles), Yeovil (14 miles), Bridport (12 miles) and Sherborne (16 miles). These offer a range of shops as well as places of interest. The local village has provision for young people with a school rated good by Ofsted and a village pre-school as well as lots of activities on offer for younger people including cubs and scouts, brownies, youth club, youth football club as well as an after school care in the form of Fizzy Boppers and Bouncing Beans catering for children aged 3 - 11 years. Further activities in the village including a running club, allotments and allotment society, Lunch Hour held on the third Wednesday of every month for local people to meet. 'The Ivy Club' offers day trips out on a regular basis to various places on in the south including trips such as the SS Great Britain and the Museum Milestones.
Maiden Newton is also on the Frome Valley cycle trail going from nearby Evershot to Dorchester, so on the National Cycle Network. There are a number of footpaths around the village that are perfect for dog walking. The Wessex Ridgeway long distance path also passes through Maiden Newton.

Yeovil, turn left onto Dorchester Rd/A356Crewkerne,
turn right onto Bull Lane.
